The unarmored three-spine stickleback is a fascinating and unique species currently in a critical state. These small fish typically measure up to 2 inches in standard length and can be found in slow-moving streams and rivers. Unfortunately, due to environmental factors and human activity, these fish are now facing the threat of extinction.
However, there is hope for the unarmored three-spine stickleback thanks to the efforts of conservation organizations like The Wildland Conservancy, CSFW, and the U.S. Forest Service. These groups have been working together to help repopulate the species by transporting 220 unarmored three-spined sticklebacks to a secure location.
This is a crucial step in preserving the unarmored three-spine stickleback and ensuring that future generations can appreciate the unique qualities of this incredible species.
